It’s my first time at NeurIPS. Six months ago I was at ICML for the first time. Before that, most of my career events were at Moscone, or in Vegas, or in the enterprise conference world I grew up in. Those rooms feel familiar. This one feels new.
Walking into NeurIPS has that feeling of stepping into a different community for the first time. The pace is faster. The questions are deeper. The curiosity is louder. You can tell people are trying to understand something that’s still taking shape. I love that feeling. It pulls you in.
Part of why I started writing was to make sense of what I’m learning inside this ecosystem. Trying to explain something forces you to understand it better.
